Staying Within the Guardrails:
Professional Boundaries in Independent Schools

The past few years have highlighted a number of community lightning rods, including in our schools. Join this interactive conversation for independent school administrators and faculty to address the following questions:

  • How do school staff maintain healthy boundaries within the classroom, among parents, and other parts of the community?
  • Why are healthy boundaries important?
  • What are standard practices in independent schools?

THE FINE PRINT:

  • This session is free for participants from AISGW, SAIS, and TAIS member schools.
  • The fee for non-member participants is $25 per person.
  • The Zoom link will be included in the reminder emails sent 24 hours and 2 hours prior to the start time.
  • The session will be recorded and a link will be emailed to all registrants within 24 hours.

This webinar is the second of a three-part series co-hosted by AISGW, SAIS, and TAIS. Additional webinars in this series will take place on October 14 and December 1.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

Amy McNamerAmy McNamer is the executive director at AISGW. Early in her career, she taught at the Casablanca American School, Morocco, and she has practiced law for twenty years in a variety of contexts in the private and public sectors. She has also provided strategic consulting to several area non-profits as a volunteer for Compass Pro Bono, assisting non-profit boards with governance issues and strategic alignment matters. Amy holds her B.A. in European history from Harvard and earned her J.D. at Georgetown.

 

 

Debra WilsonDebra Wilson joined the SAIS staff as president in July 2019. Debra received her B.A. in English from Sewanee, The University of the South, and her J.D. from the University of South Carolina at Columbia. She previously served as general counsel for NAIS for 19 years. Her past and current board service include EMA-The Enrollment Management Association, GEB-Global Education Benchmarking, MISBO-Mid-South Independent School Business Officers, and NNSP-National Network of School Partnerships. 

 

 

Sarah WIlsonSarah Wilson is the executive director of TAIS. She began her career in education with Teach for America in Atlanta, GA, and fell in love with boarding schools while teaching at Asheville School. Prior to joining TAIS, Sarah served as the upper school director and then the director for Laurel's Center for Research on Girls at Laurel School in Shaker Heights, OH.
