It’s no secret that heads of school are challenged by the p rospect of trying to manage, by themselves, the overwhelming increase in th e emotional needs of faculty created by the pandemic. Research suggests tha t cultivating teamwork can help address this challenge. Interdependent team work – a leadership culture or mindset based on the collaboration of otherw ise independent groups in schools – happens when resources, expertise, and learning are shared across departments, divisions, and programs. Teams demo nstrating curiosity, using appreciative inquiry skills, cultivating and sha ring beliefs and practices with an emphasis on inclusive learning, are hall marks of interdependent leadership in action.
An interactive, facilitative dialogue about the head of school leadership triad of leading and caring for self, with teams, and sustaining community will be the focus of our time together, with the goal of equipping school l eaders to manage the emotional needs of adults as we move forward to the ne xt phase of the pandemic.
While this session f ocuses on heads of school, key members of the leadership team (assistant he ads, division leaders) are welcome.
