LEAD Logo
Sidwell Friends School and Howard University invite you to connect with fellow education professionals in a rich and meaningful dialogue about race, equity, and justice in school communities.
This inaugural event will evaluate how race and equity intersect with education and workforce preparation. Participants will have opportunities to meet and engage with educators and leaders from backgrounds both similar to and different from their own.

Keynote speakers include Professor Loretta Ross, activist, public intellectual, and professor at Smith College, who has been a leader in the effort to “Call in a Calling Out Culture” and the fight against White Supremacy. We will also welcome Dr. Gregory Hutchings Jr., superintendent of Alexandria City Public Schools and author of “Getting into Good Trouble at School: A Guide to Building an Antiracist School System.”

The LEAD conference will be collaborative experience during which you will have the opportunity to learn and talk with public, independent, and university educators as well as local business and nonprofit leaders. Each participant will also be assigned to a discussion cohort of 10-12 attendees (cohorts will each include a mix of public, independent and university educators, and business/nonprofit leaders) with whom you will have time discuss innovative ideas.
